Russians Fortify Moscow Power Plant With Concrete Blocks

One of Moscow’s thermal power plants is being fortified to protect it from possible drone attacks.

Astra reported the development and published video footage filmed by an eyewitness at the site.

The facility is CHP-8 on Volgogradsky Avenue, where workers are installing concrete barriers around the plant.

Russian authorities are likely trying to protect the energy facility from strikes by Ukrainian drones, which could occur during the heating season.

The publication suggests that the concrete structure may later be reinforced with anti-drone nets.

The fortification of at least one thermal power plant in the capital of the aggressor country became known the day after a massive drone attack on the night of September 20.

During the attack, the Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotnya district, a warehouse facility belonging to the logistics company LLC “Modern Warehouse Technologies” in the Moscow region, and CHP-22 in the city of Dzerzhinsky were reportedly hit.

At some Russian oil refineries, walls made of shipping containers are being installed around storage tanks and processing units to strengthen protection against drone attacks.

The containers are stacked several levels high, creating a barrier between the equipment and the surrounding area. It is currently unclear how effective this type of protection is.

In addition, Russian oil refineries continue to install anti-drone nets and metal frameworks around certain facilities.

The structures are intended to intercept drones before they can hit the equipment or to reduce the impact of a strike.

However, these structures did not prevent a fire at the oil depot in Sochi, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones on the night of September 4.
