Russian Strike on Poltava Region Triggers Chemical Leak; Emergency Crews Contain Threat

On August 2, a Russian strike on a critical infrastructure facility in Ukraine’s Poltava region caused a leak of a hazardous chemical substance.

The incident was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

The leak originated from damaged storage tanks at the facility.

Specialists from the Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Unit were deployed to the scene. Emergency crews sealed the damaged storage tanks and repaired the leak points to stop the release of the hazardous chemical.

Thanks to their rapid response, the spread of the dangerous substance was successfully contained.

Ukraine has deployed State Emergency Service (SES) personnel and the necessary equipment to assist France in combating wildfires.

Ukraine has also prepared to send its An-32P firefighting aircraft, which are specifically designed for aerial firefighting operations.
