Satellite imagery of a dry dock in Kronstadt indicates that the damaged Russian Project 20380 missile corvette Boykiy suffered catastrophic damage, including the complete destruction of its superstructure and severe deformation of the hull.

Researcher MT Anderson published the images.

The photos show significant hull deformation near the stern, where the ship’s exhaust systems are located. This suggests that extremely high temperatures spread through the vessel’s internal compartments during the incident. The exhaust ducts and related systems were also likely damaged.

The corvette’s internal spaces also appear to have suffered extensive damage. Exposure to intense heat caused the radar mast and sections of the upper deck structure to collapse into the hull.

The mast houses antennas for air- and surface-search radars, communications equipment, navigation lights, and components of the vessel’s identification friend-or-foe (IFF) system. In particular, corvettes of this class are equipped with the Furke-2 general-surveillance radar and the Monument-A missile-targeting radar, which provides targeting data for the ship’s anti-ship missile systems.

The apparent complete burnout of the ship’s internal spaces is further evidenced by extensive charring visible along the aft superstructure and in the area surrounding the helicopter flight deck.

According to MT Anderson’s assessment, the nature and extent of the damage indicate that the ship is beyond repair and cannot be returned to service.

On the morning of June 3, Ukrainian drones struck the Russian missile corvette while it was located at the Kronstadt Naval Base in St. Petersburg. At the time of the attack, the vessel was undergoing scheduled maintenance in the Veleščinsky Dry Dock, where it had been under repair since February 2026.

Published video footage indicates that at least two Ukrainian attack drones struck the corvette. The impacts triggered a major fire aboard the vessel, with smoke visible to local residents several kilometers from the incident site.

Boykiy is the third Project 20380 corvette and belongs to the Steregushchiy-class series of warships. The vessel has a full-load displacement of approximately 2,200 tonnes, a maximum speed of up to 27 knots, and an endurance of up to 15 days at sea without resupply. The ship’s complement consists of 100 personnel, including 14 officers.

The corvette’s armament includes AK-630 30 mm close-in weapon systems (CIWS), an A-190 100 mm naval gun, and the Redut surface-to-air missile system.

Its anti-ship warfare capability is provided by the Uran missile system, which consists of eight Kh-35 anti-ship cruise missiles with a strike range of up to 260 km.

In addition, the vessel is equipped with the Paket-NK anti-submarine warfare system, comprising two quadruple 324 mm torpedo launchers mounted on either side of the hull. The ship is also designed to operate a Ka-27 naval helicopter from its flight deck and hangar facilities.
