Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport has announced plans to open a helicopter maintenance and repair center in Peru, according to a report by The Defense Post.
Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev said the new facility will begin operations in the near future.
It will provide services to support the airworthiness of Russian-made helicopters used across Latin America.
The location of the center and additional details have not yet been disclosed.
The Peruvian Armed Forces operate a range of Russian helicopters, including the Mi-2, Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171, and Mi-35 attack helicopters.
The initiative coincides with Rosoboronexport’s participation in an upcoming defense exhibition in Peru scheduled for April.
The company plans to showcase Mi-17 helicopters, MiG-35 and Su-35 fighter jets, and the Il-76 transport aircraft.
Russia will also present Orlan and Orion drones, as well as Kub loitering munitions.
In addition to Russian systems, Peru’s military inventory includes equipment from Europe, the United States, and Asia.
In December, the country received its first batch of South Korean K808 White Tiger armored personnel carriers.
