Russia Launched 126 Ballistic Missiles at Ukraine in July, Highest Number in 2026

In July, Russia used a record number of ballistic missiles of various types against Ukraine.

According to an analysis by the Oko Gora project, Russian forces launched about 126 ballistic missiles of various types during the month, including Iskander-M, KN-23 and S-300/S-400 missiles used in a ground-attack role.

On July 30, Russia used a North Korean-made KN-23 ballistic missile for the first time in a long time to strike the village of Radushne in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to Oko Gora, Russia used 96 ballistic missiles in June, 86 in May, 50 in April, 39 in March, 116 in February and 74 in January.

The increased use of ballistic missiles comes amid a shortage of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

Earlier, on July 14, it was reported that Ukrainian air defenses had resumed intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.

Before that, on July 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would quickly receive a batch of PAC-3 missiles from the United States.

However, by the end of the month, Ukrainian ballistic missile interception rates had declined again.

On August 1, only one of 27 ballistic missiles was intercepted, while on July 30, one of nine launched missiles was shot down.
