The European Union has approved the addition of nearly 1,600 individuals and entities linked to the Russian military industry and the war against Ukraine to the sanctions list.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas announced on X that sanctions pressure would be intensified.

This marks the largest single expansion of the EU sanctions list since the start of the full-scale invasion.

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the official approval of the new entries on October 12.

The list includes 743 individuals and 826 entities—a total of 1,569 entries. According to Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, the activities of those subject to sanctions contribute to Russia’s ability to continue the war against Ukraine.

Kallas clarified that the sanctions primarily target the Russian military industry.

“More than half of them are linked to the ballistic missile production chain,” she noted.

The sanctions also target individuals involved in organizing sham elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

According to Vladislav Vlasiuk, the President of Ukraine’s representative on sanctions policy, the coordination phase of the new package considered approximately 1,700 new entries for the sanctions list.
