German defense giant Rheinmetall will produce 155 mm ammunition for an unnamed international customer.

This is reported on the company’s official website.

As part of this order from December 2024, Rheinmetall will supply five-digit quantities of 155 mm M107 artillery ammunition.

The total value of the signed contract is € 21 million, and the first deliveries are expected to begin in the first half of 2025.

The ammunition will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain.

The M107 is still among the world’s most widely used artillery projectiles. Developed in the 1950s, this projectile was supplied to most 155mm artillery systems in the world.

Since its cost is much lower than the DM121 or the British L15A2, it is still used by some European countries as a main artillery projectile and continues to be actively produced.

At the same time, the company expects a significant increase in the number of manufactured ammunition as part of the expansion. As previously noted by the company’s representatives, in the period from 2022 to 2027, the company aims to reach the production of 1.1 million shells per year.

Militarnyi previously reported that the German defense giant Rheinmetall would supply Ukraine with 155mm artillery shells.

Under the contract signed between the parties, the German company is to start supplying artillery shells in the first half of 2025.

In addition to the shells, Rheinmetall and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine recently signed a contract for the supply of 155 mm powder charges.

The contract is worth about €9 million.
