The United States expects NATO European countries to purchase more American weapons for Ukraine through the PURL program.

Pete Hegseth, U.S. Secretary of Defense, stated this, as reported by European Pravda.

The statement was made ahead of a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense ministers.

“Our expectation today is that even more countries will make additional contributions, purchase more, to ensure Ukraine has everything it needs for a peaceful resolution of this conflict,” Hegset said.

PURL

The PURL initiative (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) was launched as part of an agreement between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The mechanism allows NATO member states and partners to finance deliveries of American weapons and technologies to Ukraine through voluntary contributions.

Under the program, a prioritized list of required weapons and ammunition is compiled based on Ukrainian requests.
