Production of 155 mm, 152 mm, and 122 mm Shell Body Launched in Czech Republic

The Czech STV GROUP has announced the launch of a strategic project to produce forged shell bodies of various calibers — 155 mm, 152 mm, and 122 mm.

The project is being implemented as part of a large-scale investment that the company has presented to the public in recent months, according to Armádní noviny.

STV GROUP management emphasizes that reducing dependence on foreign suppliers is of strategic importance.

Therefore, the company is consistently investing in the localization of production, the introduction of modern technologies, automation, and the robotization of processes.

Serial production of the hulls is planned for the end of 2025 at newly built production facilities.

With standard technologies, the weight of shells within a single series varies by several kilograms. This forces artillerymen to use weight markings to adjust their aim.

The new STV GROUP shells will have a deviation of only tens of grams, which will eliminate the need for markings and make the use of ammunition much more convenient.

In addition to the current production of 155 mm, 152 mm, and 122 mm calibers, the company plans to produce a more complex structure for 155 mm shells with an increased firing range of up to 40 km.

According to forecasts, production capacity will reach more than 100,000 shells per year in 2026. At the same time, materials will be supplied exclusively by Czech companies.

Thanks to the modular principle of production organization, STV GROUP will be able to quickly increase volumes in the event of changes in the security situation.

At the same time, the company is developing a production line for shells explosive filling. Currently, there are two specialized lines in operation, producing over 240,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers annually. Another line is planned to be launched in the near future.

In-house production of shell casings will allow STV GROUP to significantly reduce its dependence on external suppliers and ensure greater stability of defense supplies.
