An oil refinery caught fire in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, located in Tatarstan.
Videos and photos from eyewitnesses are being published by the monitoring channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+.
Footage taken from a car shows something burning on the plant’s grounds, with thick black smoke rising into the sky.
A photo taken from farther away also shows smoke from the fire. At the same time, the cause of the fire is currently unknown. No reports of an attack on the refinery have been made today.
As a reminder, on the morning of July 8, Ukrainian drones struck the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical plant in Nizhnekamsk. The smoke from the fire was observed by eyewitnesses in neighboring towns.
The facility is one of the largest petrochemical plants in Russia and Europe, specializing in the production of synthetic rubbers, base polymers, and other organic synthesis products.
The facility is a key component of Russia’s petrochemical infrastructure and an important hub for exporting petrochemical products to global markets.
