Russian forces are attempting to establish a foothold near the border village of Artilne in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region and advance toward the village of Ivashkyne.

The DeepState analytical project reported the development.

According to Ukrainian military personnel, the sector on the Southern Slobozhanskyi axis is defended in part by the Rapid Response Border Command of the 4th Border Guard Detachment, operating as part of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

A similar assault took place on July 27, when the unit detected and eliminated a Russian assault group of 18 soldiers advancing toward Artilne, a village located directly on the Russian border.

“Yes, there is an attempt to establish a foothold in the border zone, roughly in the direction of Ivashkyne,” said Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Joint Forces grouping.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces carried out two airstrikes, dropped four guided aerial bombs, and launched 36 attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian positions on the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk axes.

The renewed Russian attacks in the Kharkiv sector may be linked to Moscow’s efforts to establish a buffer zone along Ukraine’s northern border.

That effort could be complicated by the deeply layered defensive line being built in the Kharkiv sector by the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, Khartiia, together with other Defense Forces units.

On July 17, soldiers of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelia thwarted an attempt by Russian forces to establish a foothold after crossing the state border near the villages of Kozacha Lopan and Hrany in the Kharkiv region.
