Lithuania Plans to Manufacture Ukrainian Drones on Its Territory

Lithuania plans to set up production of Ukrainian drones on its territory under a bilateral defense industry cooperation agreement with Ukraine.

The Lithuanian news outlet LRT reported this, citing Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas.

According to Kaunas, the project will be carried out through joint investments under the defense industry cooperation agreement signed by Lithuania and Ukraine in May.

“We have an agreement with Ukraine, known as the drone deal. The ministry is currently undergoing personnel changes aimed at bringing in key specialists who will begin turning this agreement into practical solutions on the ground, so that we can localize the production of Ukrainian drones in Lithuania,” he said.

According to the Minister, the project will benefit both countries by expanding Ukraine’s production capacity while strengthening Lithuania’s defense industry through new manufacturing capabilities and technological developments.

In addition, the project will allow Lithuanian engineers to work side by side with Ukrainian specialists.

On June 1, the two countries launched the joint Brave Lithuania grant program, aimed at supporting defense technologies and developing innovative solutions.

In addition to grant funding, Brave Lithuania includes joint events for developers, engineers, and startups aimed at finding new technological solutions and building international partnerships.

The signing of the agreement in the form of a drone deal between Kyiv and Vilnius was announced on May 13.

The agreement also provides for the creation of a Ukrainian military expert team that will work in Lithuania to develop the necessary security capabilities, primarily to counter modern threats and strengthen the security of both countries and the entire region.

Overall, the agreement is intended to enhance the defense capabilities of both states and is based on the principle of reciprocity: Ukraine supports partners who provide real and tangible assistance to its defense.
