The Russian Kalashnikov Concern announced the start of deliveries to the customer of the new SKAT 220 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed in-house.
This was reported by the press service of the Kalashnikov Concern.
The new UAV is based on the previously introduced SKAT 350M UAV, which is used by Russian security forces for reconnaissance and surveillance.
Compared to the previous model, the new aircraft has a smaller wingspan of 2.2 meters and a reduced weight of 12 kilograms.
The company states that thanks to the reduced weight and modified design, the drone is capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h, which is one of the highest speeds among aircraft in this class.
SKAT 220 is equipped with an electric motor and can remain airborne for over 150 minutes without landing.
The drone is launched using a catapult and lands using a parachute system.
The developers also claim that the design offers enhanced reliability and durability for long-term operation in field conditions.
The primary applications for the new aircraft include facility security, safety assurance, environmental monitoring, and support for agricultural operations.
The drone is also proposed for monitoring extensive fuel and energy infrastructure facilities, major transportation routes, and power lines.
The SKAT 220 represents a further development of the SKAT family of UAVs and demonstrates Russian manufacturers’ commitment to expanding their lineup of lightweight reconnaissance aircraft with enhanced speed capabilities.
Russia recently unveiled the new “RUS-PE” UAV system from the Kalashnikov Concern.
