Soldiers of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps captured a 22-year-old Indian citizen who fought on the side of Russia. The prisoner is Majoti Sahil Mohamed Hussain from the city of Morbi.

According to him, he studied at a Russian university, but was sentenced to seven years in prison for drugs. In prison, he was offered an alternative: one year of contract service, after which they promised to release him.

In September, Majoti was trained at a training range for 16 days. He was taught how to hold an assault rifle, shoot, and throw grenades. That was the end of his training.

In addition, he was promised a monetary reward: first RUB 100 thousand, then half a million, and even 1.5 million.

“They didn’t give me anything. In short, all the liars are there,” he said.

Indian citizens recruited into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Russia, March 6, 2024.

On September 30, he was transported to the “green zone,” and the next day, he was thrown into an assault. The unit marched 3-3.5 km and had to dig a dugout.

Majoti complained to the commander about fatigue, pain in his legs, and his heart. After the conflict, the commander ordered to take his radio and let him go. A few kilometers later, he came across a Ukrainian dugout.

According to him, he approached the Ukrainian positions, put down his assault rifle, and voluntarily surrendered. He claims that he was at the front for only three days and has no intention of returning to Russia.

A new wave of recruitment of Indian citizens

In September, it was reported that the Russians started a new wave of recruitment of Indian citizens into the invasion military. They are being deceived into participating in the war against Ukraine.

The Times of India cites the example of 30-year-old Rakesh Kumar from the Udham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand. He disappeared after, according to his family, he was forcibly mobilized and sent to the front.

Rakesh traveled to Russia on August 7 on a student visa. He entered St. Petersburg University. A few weeks later, he reported that the situation was not going as planned. The last contact with him was on August 30. In a telephone conversation, Rakesh told his brother that he was forced to join the military. He was being prepared to be sent to the war zone.

After that, the connection was cut off. The family received a photo of Rakesh in a Russian army uniform. Later, he called again from an unknown number. He said that his documents had been confiscated, his e-mail accounts deleted, and that he had been trained in Donbas. This was the last call.
