Factory in Rostov-on-Don Catches Fire Following Airstrike

In Rostov-on-Don, an industrial facility caught fire as a result of an airstrike on the night of January 14. At the same time, Russian air defense systems hit residential buildings.

The local authorities confirmed the attack, and several monitoring Telegram channels, including Exilenova+, shared videos from the scene .

According to social media reports, the attack began shortly after 1:00 a.m. Kyiv time. By around 1:40 a.m., footage showing the fire and the Russian air defense in action started circulating.

Alexander Skryabin, the city’s mayor, later confirmed that the airstrike caused the fire at the industrial facility.

Preliminarily, tanks at the Empils factory were hit. The factory is a leading Russian manufacturer of paints and coatings and the largest producer of zinc oxide.

Additionally, local authorities reported that several residential buildings were allegedly damaged due to falling debris.

Meanwhile, footage started circulating on social media showing Russian air defense missiles hitting high-rise buildings.

Skryabin added that a temporary accommodation center has been set up for residents of the affected apartments. Information on casualties is still being verified.

By morning, Yuri Slyusar, Governor of Rostov Region, clarified that buildings of industrial and warehouse enterprises in the western industrial zone of Rostov caught fire due to a drone attack overnight.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its air defense systems allegedly shot down 48 Ukrainian drones during the night, including 25 over the Rostov Region.

On the morning of January 13, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the facilities of the Russian Molniya UAV manufacturer in Taganrog – the Atlant Aero factory – with missiles.

The operation involved representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy.
