Elbit Systems to supply an active protection system for CV90

Elbit Systems has signed a contract with the Swedish defense company BAE Systems Hägglunds for the supply of active protection systems for the CV90 IFV.

According to the agreement, the Israeli company will supply its Iron Fist systems for CV90 combat vehicles, which are currently produced for export customers.

The value of the contract is estimated at $109 million, with the transfer of systems over three years. In addition to the systems themselves, the cost includes maintenance of systems, as well as spare parts to them.

Due to its small size and weight, Iron Fist can be mounted on light armored platforms for 360 degree protection against anti-tank missiles and hand grenade launchers.

The order is part of a contract signed in 2021 between the Royal Netherlands Army and BAE Systems Hägglunds to upgrade the CV90 IFV and install the Iron Fist active protection system.

The systems will provide a fleet of armored vehicles of this type with reliable protection. The value of the contract is estimated at $82 million.

The Czech Republic has also placed an order for CV90 IFV with an Iron Fist active protection system, the country plans to order 246 vehicles of this type in the Mk.4 version.

As Militarnyi reported earlier, Britain continues to test the Trophy active protection system of the Israeli development on the new Challenger 3 tanks.

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence was contracted to continue testing the active protection system.

Tests are carried out to integrate the system into the weapon system of the new Challenger 3 tank.

This will improve the defense capabilities of the new combat vehicle and its ability to withstand anti-tank weapons on the battlefield.
