Drones Struck Yefimovka Oil Pumping Station in Volgograd Region

In the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation, near the village of Yefimovka, attack drones struck the central oil preparation and pumping station—a key hub of the region’s oil transportation infrastructure.

The attack on the facility took place on the night of June 12–13, and the first detection by NASA’s FIRMS fire detection monitoring service occurred at 3:41 a.m.

The Yefimovka oil pumping station (Coordinates 50.301518897683145, 44.68601502488515) belongs to Transneft – Privolga JSC and is integrated into the system of main oil pipelines through which raw materials are transported.

The station performs technical maintenance and maintains pressure in pipeline sections, particularly those related to the Zhirnovsk–Volgograd route and the discharge from the Kuibyshev–Tikhoretsk main pipeline.

The route of oil pipelines through this region connects the oil-producing areas of the Volga region and Siberia with large oil refineries, such as the Volgograd Oil Refinery, and ensures the transit of raw materials toward key export terminals on the Black Sea, specifically the port of Novorossiysk.

The station’s tank farm is small, but it houses RVSP-5000-type oil tanks with a nominal capacity of 5,000 cubic meters each.

The number of main oil storage tanks of this type within the scope of the facility’s modernization typically ranges from 2 to 4 units.

The Volgograd region has recently become one of the priority targets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as this territory is home to oil enterprises engaged in the refining, storage, and transportation of oil.

On June 8, the Krasny Yar Linear Production and Dispatch Station was struck. According to the governor, a fire broke out at the station in the Zhirnovsky district as a result of falling drone debris.

And on May 29, an oil refinery in Volgograd, Russia, was struck. A major fire broke out on the premises as a result of the strike. By June 1, it had become known that the Volgograd oil refinery, owned by Lukoil, had suspended operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.

As a result of the strike, crude oil distillation unit No. 1, which accounts for about 40% of the plant’s production capacity, was shut down. Units No. 5 and No. 6 were also shut down.
