Ukrainian drones struck Russian oil depots in Tver and near Mikhaylovsk, Stavropol Krai, during the night of July 9.
Videos and photos shared by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel show fires burning at both sites, with thick black smoke rising from the facilities.
Initial reports state that the target near Mikhaylovsk was the Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt oil depot.
However, the independent outlet Astra later reported that the burning facility is actually a different oil depot located in the hamlet of Vyazniki, in the Shpakovsky district. The governor of Stavropol Krai subsequently confirmed that an “industrial facility” in Vyazniki caught fire as a result of the drone attack.
At around 7:00 a.m., a Russian official reported that the fire at the facility had intensified and that residents living on the street adjacent to the oil depot were being evacuated to temporary accommodation centers.
The oil depot is located about 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) from the Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt facility. It serves as a major hub for receiving, storing, transshipping, and distributing refined petroleum products, including diesel fuel and various grades of gasoline.
The facility consists of a large tank farm with a fuel-loading rack and supporting industrial infrastructure.
In addition, drones attacked the Tvernefteproduktoil depot in the city of Tver, north of Moscow, during the night.
Videos released by local residents appear to show at least one storage tank burning at the facility.
The oil depot is operated by a company responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing refined petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel fuel. It supplies a network of 52 gas stations and provides wholesale fuel deliveries across the Tver region.
The drone strike on the facility was confirmed by the regional governor, who said: “Last night, during the repulsion of a UAV attack in Tver, one of the storage tanks at the Tverskaya Neftebaza facility caught fire.”
