Drones Hit Pipeline at One of Russia’s Largest Chemical Plants in Vologda Region

Strike drones hit a high-pressure pipeline at one of Russia’s largest chemical plants, JSC Apatit, in Cherepovets, Vologda region.

Georgy Filimonov, the regional governor, reported this on his official Telegram channel.

He announced that the drones targeted the Ammiak-3 nitrogen facility of JSC Apatit, which houses a sulfuric acid pipeline.

JSC Apatit is a strategic chemical giant in Russia, part of the PhosAgro group of companies. The enterprise is the largest producer of phosphorus-containing fertilizers in Europe and a key supplier of raw materials for Russia’s defense industry.

The plant in Cherepovets specializes in the deep processing of apatite concentrate. It produces complex NPK fertilizers, as well as ammonium nitrate and urea.

The plant’s capacity exceeds 8.2 million tons of products per year. The site also operates its own power plant, which supplies about 80% of the facility’s energy needs by utilizing heat generated from acid production processes.

The plant accounts for about 10% of Russia’s total ammonia production. At the same time, it has become a target for Ukrainian drones, since ammonium nitrate is a key component used in the production of industrial explosives and gunpowder for the Russian army.

Militarnyi previously reported that on April 13, 2026, strike drones reached a Russian chemical complex in the city of Cherepovets in the Vologda region. The drones covered a distance of over 800 kilometers.
