A Tu-95MS strategic bomber and missile carrier crashed in the Amur Region of Russia.
The Russian Telegram channel Mash reported on the aviation incident.
According to the channel, the plane crash occurred near the village of Krasnoyarovo.
The Tu-95MS, with a full crew, was flying to redeploy to the Olenya airfield.
Currently, there are no exact figures regarding the number of fatalities and injuries. According to Mash, three people are known to have died and four have been hospitalized. Exilenova+ reports six fatalities and one injured person.
Footage released by Exilenova+ shows the aftermath of the crash.
As of the time of publication, no official information regarding the incident has been released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
A distinctive feature of the Tu-95MS, which sets it apart from the similar Tu-154, is the tail turret, four turboprop engines with large coaxial propellers, and a swept-wing design.
The Tu-95MS is a Soviet/Russian strategic turboprop bomber and missile carrier, developed from the Tu-95 family and designed primarily for the deployment of long-range cruise missiles.
According to estimates, prior to Operation Spiderweb in 2025, Russia had approximately 47-58 aircraft of this family; however, some of them were undergoing repairs or could be used as spare-part donors.
Serial production of the Tu-95MS ended back in 1992, so Russia is currently only repairing and modernizing its existing Soviet-era aircraft. As a result, the loss of each combat-ready missile carrier reduces the fleet, which cannot be quickly replenished with new aircraft.
