Ukrainian drones attacked the Arzamas power substation, which is one of the key energy hubs in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.
This was reported by the governor of the region, according to the Astra.
The attack took place on the night of October 13-14. After the strike, NASA satellites detected a fire near the substation.
There were also power outages in this area of the region.
“At night, a UAV attack was repelled in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of falling debris, one of the energy facilities was damaged, which led to a short-term power outage. The power supply has now been restored. Specialists are working at the scene,” Governor Gleb Nikitin shared.
According to him, there were allegedly no victims of the drone attack.
The 500 kV Arzamas substation with an installed capacity of 1502 MVA is one of the important energy hubs in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the aggressor country.
It feeds several southern districts of the region, as well as Gazprom gas compressor stations and railroad traction substations.
This facility is located in the village of Lesogorsk, Shatkovsky district. It is more than 700 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
On the night of October 12-13, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces struck at the Russian energy infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea.
As part of a large-scale operation, they managed to hit the 330 kV Simferopol substation and the 220 kV Kafa substation.
Along with them, the JSC Marine Oil Terminal, which provides fuel to the Russian army, was also struck again.
