The Danish Parliament has decided to send a military contingent to the Strait of Hormuz. Danish lawmakers voted in favor of the resolution on June 25 following an expedited review of the document.
Denmark’s contribution involves sending a group of about ten people, according to DR. The group will include staff officers, drone maintenance specialists, and military translators.
In addition, as part of this mission, Denmark will deploy its own cybersecurity experts to ensure the information security of the deployed forces.
Copenhagen will integrate its personnel into two existing structures — the European multinational military mission in the Strait of Hormuz and the European Union naval operation.
The main objective of deploying these forces is to strengthen maritime security and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait region, as well as in the neighboring Red Sea.
During the vote in the chamber, the majority of political parties supported the government’s initiative, which was considered under an expedited procedure.
At the same time, representatives of three political parties — the Danish People’s Party, the Red-Green Alliance, and the Citizens’ Party — as well as two independent members of parliament, opposed the decision.
