Ukrainian Defense Forces neutralized the commander of the Akhmat Brigade Battalion in the Kursk region.
Apti Alaudinov announced this on his Telegram account.
The elimination of Chechen commander Buvaysar Khasanovich Umkhanov, call sign Tarzan, occurred during a strike on a command post in the Kursk region, where his unit was operating.
He commanded the battalion of the 4th Special Purpose Brigade “Akhmat” and was involved in looting and the murder of Ukrainian civilians in 2022, for which he was added to the Myrotvorets database.
“Our brother Buvaisar Khasanovich Umkhanov, call sign Tarzan, has died,” the message reads.
Umkhanov was a native of the village of Grebenskaya in the Shelkovskoy district of the Chechen Republic.
The unit he was part of was under the control of the Russian Ministry of Defense and operated in the Kursk region to maintain control over the aggressor country’s state border.
Despite propaganda claims about the liberation of the Kursk region, according to official information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defense forces are still operating on enemy territory, holding back the Russian army.
Militarnyi previously reported that the operators from Ukraine’s 73rd Naval Special Operations Center had conducted a raid on enemy positions in the Russia’s Kursk region.
During the raid on April 26, a group from the 73rd Center destroyed a unit of the servicemen from Russia’s 810th Marine Brigade.
According to Ukraine’s General Staff, five combat engagements took place in the Kursk region as of April 27.
In addition, Russian forces carried out one airstrike, dropping two guided bombs (KABs), and launched 140 artillery attacks, including seven using multiple launch rocket systems.
