Russia intends to significantly step up the use of jet-powered attack drones in its air strikes on Ukraine, with their share potentially reaching 50%.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this.

He noted that Russian forces are constantly changing their UAV tactics, increasing their numbers, and improving their capabilities, making it harder for Ukraine’s air defenses to respond effectively.

“The aggressor plans to raise the share of jet-powered attack drones to 50%. This presents new challenges that require a timely response,” Syrskyi wrote on his social media.

He explained that, to date, most of the Russian Shaheds and other aerial attack systems that have been neutralized are the result of Ukrainian interceptor drones.

The Commander-in-Chief noted that at a working meeting on countering enemy attack drones, officials discussed ways to improve Ukraine’s air defense and to further upgrade domestic interceptor drones.

At the end of May, Ukrainian Defense Ministry advisor Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov reported that interceptor drones are now responsible for shooting down 40% of Russian Shahed kamikaze drones.
