Attempt Was Made in Russia to Kill the Manufacturer of the Ovod Drone

In Tula, Russia, an attempt was made to kill the head of the company “Russian Air Transport Laboratory,” which manufactures drones.

The Russian Telegram channel Mash and several other media outlets reported on this.

The Investigative Committee of the Tula Region announced the opening of a criminal case regarding the attempted murder of the entrepreneur.

The attack took place around 1:00 a.m. on July 29 in the stairwell of a building on Mikheeva Street, where a hitman was waiting for Andrei Cherezov, the company’s head.

The hitman fired three shots on the fourth-floor landing as the company’s CEO was opening the door to his apartment.

The entrepreneur’s wife heard the shots and called an ambulance. The wounded man was hospitalized, and a manhunt was launched for the attacker.

Recently, the Russian Air Transport Laboratory was awarded contracts to supply unmanned aerial systems to Voronezh State Technical University for research purposes.

The company won two auctions, with the total value of the contracts amounting to RUB 29.7 million. Under the terms of the contracts, it was to supply the customer with 337 multi-rotor UAV kits and 17 control systems.

The company was founded in 2022; its director and owner is Andrei Cherezov. The company develops FPV drones, specifically the Ovod line, with an emphasis on ease of use. The drones are delivered ready for operation and are equipped with systems for the safe attachment of munitions.

The company also develops repeaters that allow UAVs to be controlled from a distance of up to 50 km.

The company’s products, including the Ovod UAV, are being used by Russian invaders in the war against Ukraine. The company also supplies drones to educational and scientific institutions in the aggressor country. The company is subject to sanctions by the U.S., the EU, and Ukraine.
