In May 2026, Ukrainian Defense Forces doubled the number of strikes deep behind Russian lines, penetrating more than 50 kilometers.

This was reported by Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

“The logistical lockdown is working. As directed by the President, we are scaling up strikes on targets at distances of 20–150 km. The number of enemy targets hit at distances of over 50 km from the front line has doubled. We also have record figures for the destruction of enemy vehicles and motorcycles,” he stated.

He also reported that over the past month, the Defense Forces have killed or seriously wounded 31,530 Russian soldiers. At the same time, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the ratio of dead to wounded is far from the classic 1:3 and currently stands at 63% killed and 37% seriously wounded.

In recent weeks, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have been increasingly actively attacking the enemy’s logistics deep in the rear. Strikes by Ukrainian- and American-made drones are causing Russian forces to face serious supply problems, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.

Furthermore, despite the significant distances involved, Ukrainian forces have managed to reach key routes leading from Russia to occupied Crimea.

This prompted the head of the Kherson region’s occupation administration, collaborator Vladimir Saldo, to restrict the movement of trucks not carrying military cargo through the occupied territories of the Kherson region to Crimea via the so-called ‘R-280 highway.’

The impact of the strikes is also noticeable in Crimea, where most of the fuel was delivered via the land corridor. The occupation authorities were forced to impose restrictions on fuel sales, limiting purchases to 20 liters per person using ration coupons.

The record currently belongs to an attack by strike drones of the 3rd Assault Brigade’s Unmanned Systems Battalion, which struck Russian logistics 205 km from the front line and near the Izvarine checkpoint in the Luhansk region.
