Artan Special Unit Regains Control of Key Positions Near Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia Region

Soldiers of the Defense Intelligence special unit Artan, working together with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, have retaken several positions near Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported this and released combat footage.

The special forces carried out a series of successful offensive operations and continue active combat missions as part of a broader operation in this area.

According to Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Russian troops are trying to hold their ground through repeated “human wave” assaults.

Despite these attacks and difficult logistics, Artan fighters – alongside other units from the Defense Intelligence’s Active Operations Department and the Ukrainian Defense Forces – managed to regain several positions and significantly improve the tactical situation in this sector of the front line.

As part of the mission, the defenders destroyed forward assault groups of the Russian occupation army, struck enemy concentrations of personnel and equipment, and eliminated dozens of invading troops.

“A key element of the special operation was cutting off the enemy’s main logistics routes by establishing fire control over them,” the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine stated.

Strikes on Russian logistics and communication hubs are reducing the capabilities of their assault groups in this sector.

“The active operations were performed in close coordination with other units of the Defense Intelligence’s Active Operations Department and the Ukrainian Defense Forces. They made it possible to establish a stable foothold for further clearing of the settlement and the final expulsion of the enemy,” Artan commander Viktor Torkotiuk, call sign “Titan,” shared.

He added that the goal of the Ukrainian defenders remains to eliminate the threat of a Russian breakthrough toward the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia.

According to Titan, the effectiveness of the Defense Forces’ offensive actions near Stepnohirsk is due to a high level of coordination.

The village of Stepnohirsk is strategically important for Ukraine’s defense, as its capture by Russian forces would allow them to bring up artillery and drone operators and intensify attacks on Zaporizhzhia and nearby settlements.
