On September 9, a land plot was allocated in a safe region of Ukraine to build a new plant for the production of 155-mm shells.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal after a meeting with the head of the German company Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, at the DSEI international arms exhibition in London.

The ammunition will be produced for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

In July 2024, it was announced that the Ukrainian government had ordered the creation of an ammunition production facility in partnership with the German defense concern Rheinmetall.

Initially, it was planned to produce 150,000 155-mm shells per year, but the company plans to build capacity to produce up to 300,000 units.
