Ukrainian Troops Foil Russian Attempt to Hold Ground in Oleksandrohrad

Ukrainian forces prevented invaders who had infiltrated the village of Oleksandrohrad in the Donetsk region from gaining a foothold.

The 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that Russian forces sent a group into the settlement to stage the raising of a Russian flag on a drone camera.

A Ukrainian assault group was sent to drive out the invaders, acting under the coordination of reconnaissance drones.

“The enemy, using infantry as human shields, entered the village and hurried to hang their tricolor flag. But the next day, their forces were destroyed,” the military said.

Unfortunately, one of the participants of the operation, codenamed “Therapist,” was killed in the village after the battle.

He raised the Ukrainian flag in the village after the invaders were destroyed, but was killed while retreating, 150 meters from the evacuation point, when he accidentally strayed from the route.

The village of Oleksandrohrad is located on the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

According to the military, Russian propaganda is actively using a new tactic of spreading disinformation — staged “captures” of settlements.

To this end, the enemy sends small sabotage groups with Russian flags, which try to bypass the positions of Ukrainian defenders.

If successful, the invaders shoot short videos with the tricolor flag, which are then distributed in propaganda media as “evidence” of the alleged advance of Russian troops.

A similar incident recently occurred in the village of Andriivka-Klevtsove (until 2024 — Iskra).

Two groups of invaders infiltrated there: one was destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers, the other was taken prisoner.
