Netherlands Orders 600,000 Ukrainian Drones and 100 UAV Detection Radars for Ukraine

The Netherlands has ordered 600,000 Ukrainian drones for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and will deliver 100 radars designed to detect drones to Ukraine.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced this on Tuesday, June 24, ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague.

According to him, agreements with Ukrainian companies to purchase such a large number of drones were signed recently, with a total value of €500 million.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukrainian defenders urgently need these drones on the front lines. Through these purchases, the country is supporting the Drone Line initiative.

Brekelmans also announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth €175 million, which includes 100 radar systems for drone detection and unmanned aerial vehicles. The exact models of the radars and drones have not been disclosed.

These radars are capable of detecting UAVs and then transmitting information about their movements to air defense systems that can shoot them down. The delivery of the detection radars is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Additionally, 20 Ermine CASEVAC vehicles for evacuating the wounded will be delivered to Ukraine.

The Netherlands also allocates an additional €80 million for drones as part of the international Drone Coalition. Previously, the country had already contributed €20 million to this initiative.

The new defense assistance package complements the recently announced €400 million package to ensure maritime security.
