The Russians have begun using a new S8000 “Banderol” cruise missile from drones, which uses a significant number of foreign components.

This was reported by the official website of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The new cruise missile has already been studied by the specialists from the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, who found components from countries such as China, Japan, the US, and South Korea.

In particular, the batteries are manufactured by the Japanese company Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and the telemetry exchange module is manufactured by the Australian company RFDesign Pty Ltd.

At the same time, the servo drive used in the Russian missile is South Korean Dynamixel, the microcontroller is Swiss STMicroelectronics, and the phototransistor is Japanese Toshiba Corporation.

As noted by the DIU, the missile is launched from the Orion drone, and in the future, it is planned to be integrated into Russian Mi-28N attack helicopters.

The missile was designed and manufactured by JSC KRONSHTADT TEKHNOLOGII. Its maximum speed is 620–650 km/h, and its cruising speed is 520–560 km/h.

It should be noted that the missile uses a Chinese Swiwin turbojet engine weighing 8.5 kg. The maximum thrust of the engine (at 65,000 rpm) is 81.6 kgf.

With these characteristics, the engine has a range of 500 km. It is approximately 5 m long, with a wingspan of 2.2 m and a body diameter of 30 cm. It has a fuel capacity of 50–65 kg.

The missile is equipped with a 150 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead, with a total weight of 114.3 kg, of which 49.5 kg is explosive. Octogen with aluminum powder is used as the explosive, and cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine acts as a plasticizer.

Earlier, Militaryi reported that Russia had increased the production of cruise missiles but had been facing a shortage of components due to EU and US sanctions.

To maintain this pace, production facilities are operating in three shifts. Western components are delivered through intermediaries — companies linked to Russian oligarchs and the Russian defense industry.
