The Ukrainian defense industry company has developed a loitering munition called “Rubaka.” It can be used at the operational and strategic levels.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said that it’s already been used in hostilities.
“They have already shown themselves well in battle. I can’t say exactly where, but we could all read about its work on Telegram,” said the Ukrainian intelligence officer.
Loitering munitions of the operational and strategic level “Rubaka” are able to cover a distance of 500 kilometers.
The “Rubaka” is manufactured by a classified Ukrainian defense company.
Ukrainian actor Vladislav Shevchenko said that he collects UAH 10 million for buying 18 “Rubaka” drones for Ukrainian intelligence.
“<…> I received a request for 18 “Rubaka” kamikaze drones from one of the special forces units of the Defense Intelligence. Need to collect UAH 10 million,” said Vladislav Shevchenko.
Details of the order were not disclosed. If not taking into account special equipment, spare parts, and control stations, which can also be included in the order, then it turns out that one drone costs about UAH 550 thousand.
The unmanned aerial vehicle is designed according to the flying wing type and has an engine in the front. It is launched with the help of a catapult.
Recall that in Ukraine there are also manufactured “Beaver” loitering munitions of the operational-strategic level, which have a flight range of 1000 kilometers.
The cost of one such drone is about UAH 4 million (USD 108 thousand).
With the participation of the “Beaver” on May 30, 2023, a mass attack on the enemy capital took place; according to Russians, about 25 UAVs flew to Moscow.
