Ukrainian Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers will receive Light Weight Mine Rollers (LWMR).
Mine rollers were observed being transported across the European Union.
Back in January, 2023, the Pentagon announced the future transfer to Ukraine of 20 Strykers armored personnel carriers with mine rollers for them.
LWMR protects vehicles from buried mines and explosive devices that are defused by a roller in front of the vehicle.
This mine rollers are battle-tested and in service with the U.S. Army and the Canadian Armed Forces.
The system is light in weight but creates a powerful effect by using hydraulic power to transfer some of the vehicle’s weight to the roller wheels to create the force necessary to detonate the mines.
The LWMR can be quickly attached to or detached from the armored vehicle and replaced with other specialized equipment.
As previously reported, on January 19, the Pentagon announced that it would provide Ukraine with 90 Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) with 20 mine rollers.
The United States provided Ukraine with Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers with Protector RWS Remote Weapon Stations.
The first Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers were received by Ukrainian soldiers from the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.
Ukraine will receive Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers for the first time. The U.S. emphasized that they are very necessary for Ukraine.
Stryker has been manufactured since 2001. During this time, armored personnel carriers underwent a number of modifications and confirmed their effectiveness. Their interior has additional interior trim. This helps the crew to survive even when the armored personnel carrier receives serious damage.
