Fighters of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) reported that they conducted an operation in the territory of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.
They reported this on their Telegram channel.
“The Russian Volunteer Corps crossed the state border of the Russian Federation… We don’t fight civilians, we don’t kill unarmed people,” one of the soldiers said in the video.
He also called on Russian citizens to go to protests and “riot” against the authorities.
As evidence of being in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, volunteers demonstrated a plaque of the local Lyubechane paramedic and obstetric center.
In the morning, Russian media reported on an alleged Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group entering the territory of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.
According to Russian channels, a battle broke out on the spot, during which civilians were injured. It was reported that, among other things, a school bus was allegedly shelled, and a child was wounded. Various resources published information about a girl and then a boy, as well as about hostage-taking.
Alexander Bogomaz, Governor of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, said that the vehicle’s driver was killed and a boy born in 2012 was wounded as a result of a “contact with the Ukrainian SRG.”
Around 16:30, Bogomaz announced that another local resident born in 1966 was killed.
Subsequently, one of the RVC soldiers shared the details of the operation with the Important Stories media. He shared that 45 servicemen performed the task, and one Russian border guard was wounded during the operation.
“I just came back from there. We had 45 men on this task. We went in, filmed, and ambushed two IFVs. I did not see the children being victims. But there was one injured border guard. No hostages were taken,” the RVC participant disclosed on condition of anonymity.
In another published video, soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps announced that they came to the territory of the Russian Federation as a liberation army.
“We did not come here as an SRG, we came here as a liberation army to our native land. Unlike Putin’s military, the army of robbers and rapists, we are not at war with the civilian population,” the statement says.
At the same time, the Operational Command “North” reported possible provocations by the enemy.
“The enemy can resort to provocations and try to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the OC “North” reported.
Andrii Yusov, Representative of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, shared in a comment to Hromadske that this event might indicate “the continuation of the transformation of Russia, its purification and liberation from Putin’s dictatorship.”
“The Russian Federation today is such an entity, within which there is a large number of interethnic, interethnic, interreligious, socio-political, and other conflicts. Today this was a public statement,” Yusov said.
The soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps were previously mentioned in the CNN report on the service of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Zmiyiniy Island.
The representative of the RVC unit with the call sign “Fortuna” said that the main task of the Ukrainian forces on the island is the observation mission.
“I lived with my family in Ukraine, and now Russia is attacking us. If any other country were to attack us, we would also fight,” Fortuna shared in a conversation with journalists.
In August last year, representatives of the Legion of Freedom of Russia, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the National Republican Army signed a declaration of cooperation.
They also announced the creation of a joint political center headed by Ilya Ponomarev, a Russian opposition politician and State Duma MP of the Russian Federation from 2007-2016.
The formations’ representatives claimed they shared the common task of liberating Russia from the Putin regime.
At the same time, RVC soldiers reported in their Telegram channel that they did not sign the so-called “Declaration of the Russian Armed Opposition” in any form and also did not recognize the white-blue-gray flag as their symbol, considering Viktor Larionov`s “Spike” as one.
Unlike the Legion of Freedom of Russia, the Russian Volunteer Corps consists of Russian emigrants living in Ukraine or Europe. It is part of the International Legion of Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
