The Bayraktar combat drone plant will be able to operate in Ukraine within two years.
This was told in an interview with Radio Liberty by Vasily Bodnar, Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey.
“I think that with normal schedules for two years it will already produce the drones themselves,” the diplomat said.
Now, according to him, Turkish specialists are “completing the design and estimate documentation” needed to launch such an enterprise.
“We are not disclosing the details until the plant is launched… Now there are certain technical details related to security first of all. Because the Russian side has already stated that this will be an object for possible attacks,” Bodnar explained.
The second important issue is related to power supply and other technical details.
According to the Ukrainian Ambassador, the construction of the Bayraktar drone plant in Ukraine, as well as the Center for the preparation and study of new unmanned aerial vehicles, is “a very serious contribution to strengthening the defense and technological potential of Ukraine.”
It should be reminded that, on December 13, the Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with Turkey on cooperation in the field of high technologies, which provided for the construction of the Bayraktar plant in Ukraine.
Baykar also intends to build a research center and a center of advanced production in Ukraine.
In October, Halyuk Bayraktar said that plans for a plant were progressing, despite some obstacles that arose due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In September, Baykar also presented the concept of a drone factory, which is planned to be built in the Kyiv region.
The area of the enterprise will be more than 30 thousand square meters, and more than 300 Ukrainian engineers and technicians will be hired to work.
