Ukraine plans to export some of the weapons it produces to obtain additional funds to produce armaments for strikes against Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his evening address on September 29.

He noted that agreements have already been reached with several countries regarding the controlled export of weapons.

“We are working on controlled exports of some types of weapons we have in surplus. This can provide Ukraine with extra funding to produce the scarce equipment that is urgently needed at the front, especially those that have proven most effective in strikes deep inside Russian territory,” Zelensky stated.

He also added that agreements have already been reached for four export markets: the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

On September 19, President Zelensky discussed plans for Ukraine to resume limited exports of certain types of weapons that are currently being produced in surplus of the Armed Forces’ needs.

He noted that Ukraine is capable of manufacturing certain types of weaponry on a scale far beyond what the country can currently afford. In fact, there are already specific categories where production has exceeded the actual military requirements – including a surplus of maritime drones, anti-tank weapons, and “some other types” of armaments.
