In the town of Lyman of the Donetsk region a woman was hiding a Russian soldier in her home. He allegedly used her to support operations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the woman was arrested as an alleged Russian agent, while the Russian soldier was killed.
During a special operation, the man reportedly resisted with weapons and was killed as a result.
According to investigators, the Russian serviceman, known by the call sign ‘Shaman,’ had entered Lyman to gather intelligence on Ukrainian defense positions in the frontline area.
While there, he made contact with a local unemployed woman, who later hid him in her home.
Later, the Russian soldier allegedly recruited her to help guide Russian artillery fire against Ukrainian forces in Lyman and nearby areas.
She reportedly moved around the area under the pretext of going for walks and observed where Ukrainian troops were positioned.
After that, she passed the geolocations of potential ‘targets’ to the Russian militant.
Then the Russian invader would report the coordinates via radio to his command for artillery strikes.
According to the case files, the man known as ‘Shaman’ served in the 31st Motor Rifle Regiment of the 67th Motor Rifle Division, part of Russia’s 25th Combined Arms Army in the Central Military District.
The Security Service of Ukraine had already documented the reconnaissance activities of this pair and took steps to protect Ukrainian defensive positions in Lyman.
The woman is currently in custody. If convicted, she could face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
