The 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces used FP-2 medium-range strike drones to hit several Russian military targets deep behind the front lines in the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region.
According to Unmanned Systems Forces Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the strikes targeted radar systems, ammunition depots, and fuel storage sites.
Near the village of Huselske, Ukrainian drones struck a PRV-16 Nadezhnost radar. Another strike near Zelenyi Yar hit a radar station believed to be a P-18 radar.
Ukrainian forces also attacked a fuel and lubricant depot in Valerianivka, as well as ammunition and military equipment warehouses in Donetsk and the village of Bahatyr.
The PRV-16 is designed to accurately measure the flight altitude of aerial targets at ranges of up to 300 kilometers. The station operates in the centimeter wavelength band.
It is known that Belarus’ defense industry has been upgrading these 1970s-era systems to the PRV-16BM standard. The modernization includes replacing analog components, introducing new signal-processing algorithms, and improving detection capabilities for small targets.
The P-18 Terek radar operates in the meter wavelength band. The system is capable of detecting targets at ranges up to 250 kilometers and altitudes up to 35 kilometers.
