Australian defense company Electro Optic Systems (EOS) will supply its anti-drone systems to an unnamed European customer, Asia-Pacific Defense Reporter reported.
EOS has signed a €31 million contract (approximately A$53 million) to deliver its flagship Slinger anti-drone systems to an unidentified European integrator of naval platforms.
The deal represents the largest order to date for the naval variant of the system.
The order, financed by the government of a European country, will see the Slinger systems adapted for maritime operations. They will be equipped with a range of weapons, including automatic cannons.
The contract includes spare parts, training for personnel, and related services. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025–2026 to meet urgent operational requirements in Europe.
The Slinger is designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles. It features a stabilized 30 mm cannon, advanced sensors, and radar systems capable of detecting and neutralizing drones at ranges of up to 1.5 km.
The system is already in use in Ukraine, where it has been deployed against Iranian-made Shahed drones and other aerial threats.
EOS CEO Dr. Andreas Schwer said the order marks a significant development for the Slinger platform, which has proven effective in land-based operations and is now being deployed in naval environments.
He stressed the system’s adaptability and the growing demand for similar technologies across multiple domains.
In September 2023, Militarnyi reported that EOS would supply 160 Slinger counter-drone systems to Ukraine.
