The operators of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit elements of the Russian 35N6 Kasta UHF-band low-altitude two-coordinate radar system.
The corresponding video was released by the press service of the Special Operations Forces.
The deployed radar was discovered by aerial reconnaissance in one of the operational zones. Judging by the characteristic interface, the reconnaissance and targeting was conducted by the Ukrainian Shark unmanned reconnaissance system.
The video shows two vehicles from the system: a KamAZ-4310 truck carrying the antenna and a command post vehicle on the same base.
The hit of the elements of the system occurred using a kamikaze drone, which is similar to the domestic RAM II loitering munition.
The 35N6 Kasta is a UHF-band low-altitude two-coordinate surveillance radar.
It is designed to control airspace, determine coordinates, and identify air targets, including targets at extremely low altitudes.
The radar is capable of determining the route characteristics of air targets and the altitude of flight based on the detection of targets in the lower, upper, or both beams.
Information on the coordinates and parameters of air targets movement is transmitted to air defense systems via radio channels or cable communication lines, with the possibility of digital or/and analog communication.
The radar is also used for air traffic control and airspace control in airfield areas.
The station consists of a hardware vehicle, an antenna vehicle and a cable stacking trailer – all based on the KamAZ-4310. The package also includes the main and backup power plants, as well as the operator’s remote workplace, which can be located at a distance of up to 300 meters.
