On the morning of September 6, 2026, Ukrainian drones attacked the Ryazan oil refinery.
The Exilenova+ outlet published video footage showing the strike.
According to an analysis by Militarnyi, the drones targeted the Isomal-2-LIN-800 unit, which is used to process pentane and hexane fractions through low-temperature isomerization.
The unit is located at coordinates 54.5715, 39.7484 and is considered a critical component of the Ryazan Oil Refinery’s production process. It converts low-octane straight-run petroleum fractions into a high-octane, environmentally cleaner blending component.
This component enables the refinery to produce gasoline meeting high environmental standards, including Euro 5, without the addition of harmful additives.
This is not the first time this part of the refinery has been targeted. In December 2025, drones attacked the unit, causing damage.
In addition to this unit, previous attacks have targeted ELOU-AVT-3, ELOU-AVT-6, and AVT-1 units. In May 2026, it was reported that the Ryazan oil refinery had lost 90–100% of its oil-refining capacity.
The Ryazan oil refinery is part of Rosneft.
It is one of Russia’s largest oil-refining facilities, with a processing capacity of approximately 17 million tonnes of crude oil per year.
The oil refinery has four primary crude oil distillation units, as well as equipment for vacuum gas oil hydrotreating, catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming, and other processing units.
Militarnyi previously reported that, based on satellite imagery from August 3, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces had knocked out two of the four crude oil processing units at the Ryazan oil refinery.
The refinery also has facilities for vacuum gas oil hydrotreatment, cracking, catalytic reforming, and other oil-processing operations.
