A Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet destroyed a Russian control and launch point for FPV drones.

The destroyed point was located in southern Ukraine, according to a video published by the Sonyashnyk Telegram channel, which is associated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A Ukrainian reconnaissance drone identified a building housing Russian drone operators. The video shows two antennas protruding through holes in the roof, used for drone control.

Footage also captured a Russian operator launching an FPV drone from a nearby yard.

Following the discovery, a precision airstrike was launched, completely destroying the building.

According to the channel, which provided video evidence, the strike was carried out using two French-made AASM HAMMER guided bombs.

Recently, Ukrainian tactical aviation has conducted a series of airstrikes in southern Ukraine targeting Russian artillery positions, assault groups, and ammunition depots.

In one strike near the village of Peremozhne in the Zaporizhzhia region, a high-precision bomb hit a Russian 152 mm 2A36 Giatsint-B towed gun. A second bomb struck a field fortification sheltering the gun crew.

Another airstrike, involving two AASM HAMMER bombs, hit a house near the village of Myrne where an assault group from Russia’s 22nd Separate Special Forces Brigade had gathered.

A third strike destroyed a field ammunition depot in a wooded area near the village of Zherebianky in the Zaporizhzhia region.

AASM (HAMMER)

The AASM is a French precision-guidance kit that upgrades free-falling unguided bombs, similar to the American JDAM.

Unlike its U.S. counterpart, the French system includes a small solid-propellant rocket motor to extend its range.

Depending on launch altitude, the AASM’s range varies from 15 km at low altitude to up to 70 km at high altitude. The Ukrainian Air Force began using these 227 kg bombs for airstrikes in early 2024, with the first reported use during the battles for Avdiivka in March.
