The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point and the German missile and air defense systems manufacturer Diehl Defence have signed a technology cooperation agreement.

Weapons Council CEO Ihor Fedirko announced this on Facebook on April 14.

The deal is one of six new cooperation agreements recently signed between Ukrainian and German companies.

“This is exactly how Build with Ukraine works: Ukrainian solutions, Ukrainian combat experience, and Ukrainian engineering combined with the production, technological, and financial capabilities of partners,” Fedirko emphasized.

In addition, the company has begun flight tests of a new FP-7 operational-tactical ballistic missile. The first launch was reported at the end of February 2026.

The missile is designed to strike targets at medium ranges. It is believed that these missiles will be highly unified with surface-to-air missiles that the company is currently developing.

Tests of the longer-range FP-9 ballistic missile, equipped with a more powerful warhead, are planned for early summer 2026.

Diehl Defence

In turn, the German company Diehl Defence manufactures IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine, which have demonstrated high effectiveness in intercepting Russian missiles and drones.

The company also specializes in the production of guided missiles for aviation and air defense systems, as well as ammunition of various calibers. A separate area of its activity is the production of weapon components, including infrared homing heads (seekers), fuzes, and others.

To meet the growing demand for missiles, Diehl Defence is expanding its production capacity across all of its sites. The company plans to invest around €1.5 billion in this expansion.

It has already opened a new production facility in Nonnweiler (Saarland) and aims to achieve an annual production capacity of up to 10 IRIS-T air defense systems this year.
