U.S. Includes Poland Among Potential F-15 Buyers

The United States has included Poland among the potential buyers of F-15 multirole fighter jets.

The Pentagon revealed this in a notice published on its website.

On August 24, Boeing was awarded a contract worth $131.23 billion with no fixed term and no limit on the volume of supplies.

The contract covers aircraft production, systems integration, upgrades, modifications, and technical support for critical F-15 weapons systems for the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, and international customers.

The contract includes the potential sale of military equipment to Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Poland.

The contract’s ordering period is scheduled to run through August 24, 2031, with an option to extend it through August 24, 2036.

F-15s for Poland

Back in July 2022, Poland’s then-Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak said the country was considering purchasing U.S. F-15 multirole heavy fighter jets to strengthen its Air Force.

“We will accelerate the delivery of F-35s. In the long term, we plan to acquire additional F-35s or F-15s. And we are closely monitoring the progress of our South Korean partners on the KF-21 Boramae,” he said to Defence24.

In September 2023, Boeing announced that Poland was interested in the latest F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets. The statement was made at the annual MSPO international defense industry exhibition in Poland, where Boeing showcased advanced defense systems and services.

“Poland’s interest in the F-15EX confirms its dedication to the preparedness and effectiveness of its military forces,” said Tim Flood, senior director, Global Business Development for Europe and Americas.

He said that the F-15EX could provide interoperability, support, and availability, backed by a reliable industrial plan.

If Poland orders the latest F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets, they would complement the country’s fleet of F-35As and F-16s and could become the Air Force’s main strike platform. The fighters can carry a wide range of missiles to engage air targets and strike ground and surface targets.
