Turkey has delivered Otokar Cobra and Cadillac Gage Commando armored vehicles to the Syrian Army, with the equipment appearing during a recent graduation ceremony for recruits of the 76th Division in Aleppo.
The Otokar Cobra, a Turkish-made wheeled armored vehicle, is designed to enhance troop mobility and protection in high-threat environments.
Also spotted were Cadillac Gage Commando amphibious vehicles with a 4×4 configuration, typically used for internal security and policing roles.
The deployment supports earlier statements by Turkish officials indicating plans to assist the Syrian Army with both equipment and military instructors, aimed at strengthening its capacity to counter armed groups operating inside Syria.
A spokesperson for the head of Syria’s transitional government told Reuters news agency that upcoming discussions with Turkey would cover “training of the new Syrian Army” — a reference to the post-Assad force replacing the disbanded military — as well as “new areas of cooperation,” though no specifics were provided.
According to the report, the new Syrian authorities have also offered Turkey the option to establish military air bases in Syria, replacing Russia’s presence.
In return, Turkey would gain access to Syrian airspace for military operations and commit to providing support in the event of external threats.
