Thanks to Taras-P interceptors, Ukrainian forces have successfully taken down 258 high-value Russian drones.

The Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation reports that seventeen units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are now equipped with these advanced interceptors.

The Taras-P interceptors were delivered as part of the foundation’s Clear Sky fundraising initiative.

According to the foundation, the drones destroyed by these interceptors amount to a total value of over UAH 1.08 billion.

Taras-P has proven highly effective against a range of Russian drones, including the Merlin, ZALA-20, Lancet, Molniya, Skat, Gerbera, and others.

For instance, the Gerbera drone is often used to mimic the Shahed, aiming to deplete Ukraine’s air defense resources.

Intercepting such UAVs with surface-to-air missile systems is extremely costly.

In contrast, a single Taras-P interceptor costs just UAH 69,300.

Ukrainian forces used 281 interceptors—at a total cost of only UAH 19,534,298 — to neutralize 258 drones.

“Russian reconnaissance drones monitor the positions and logistics of our troops, track strategic targets near the front lines, guide missile strikes, and adjust artillery fire. Taras-P interceptors act preemptively, disrupting and disabling the enemy’s UAV operations,” the foundation noted.

Previously, in certain areas along the front line, the density of enemy reconnaissance drones was critically high.

The invaders could observe nearly every movement of Ukrainian forces, every shot fired, and had the ability to constantly adjust their artillery and mortar fire.

“The absence of enemy UAVs is now very noticeable in several sectors. We’re seeing the impact of our ‘wings’ in action: our artillery has finally begun to operate effectively, and the situation with troop movements and logistics routes has significantly improved,” said Bohdan Danylіv, head of the military department at the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation.

The interceptor can stay airborne for over an hour and reaches speeds of up to 160 km/h—enough to catch and neutralize Russian UAVs.

The interceptor has a range of up to 35 kilometers and an operational altitude of 6,000 meters. The aircraft’s airframe, initiation circuit board, and warhead are all manufactured in Ukraine. Ukrainian-made engines are also expected to be used in the future.

Before receiving the interceptors, the military personnel who will operate them undergo training at the Boryviter school. The skills they acquire there significantly improve their ability to effectively neutralize enemy UAVs.
