Russians Strike Central Kherson with Four FAB Bombs Equipped with UMPK Kits

On the morning of June 5, the Russians struck the center of Kherson with high-explosive bombs equipped with UMPK kits.

As a result of the strike, the Kherson Regional State Administration building was partially destroyed, the entrance to a multi-story residential building was damaged, and nearby buildings suffered broken windows and damaged facades. There are also reports of casualties.

The regional prosecutor’s office reported that four guided aerial bombs hit the regional center.

Additionally, in the morning, the Russian occupiers shelled the city with artillery and used attack drones.

At least five apartment buildings, an administrative building, and an educational institution have been reported damaged so far.

“Within just fifteen minutes, four Russian bombs hit this location. As a result of the strikes, the building of the Kherson Regional State Administration suffered even greater destruction — it had already been repeatedly targeted by the Russians before,” Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, said.

An operational headquarters of the regional administration has been deployed at the site, with the priority being assistance to the injured and eliminating the consequences of the attack. So far, three people have been reported injured and have sought medical help.

Additionally, as a result of the Russian airstrike in the morning, a department building of the Kherson City Council was damaged, with eight office windows shattered.

Three educational institutions were also damaged, with around 200 windows blown out. According to the Kherson City Military Administration, no staff injuries have been reported. One of Kherson’s medical facilities also came under enemy fire. Emergency workers from the State Emergency Service unblocked the entrance to a basement in a residential building and rescued four local residents.

Since the liberation of Kherson in November 2022, the Russians have continued terrorist strikes on the Ukrainian city. They shell civilian infrastructure, transport, and local residents using various types of weapons.

Russian aircraft predominantly employ high-explosive aerial bombs of various calibers equipped with Universal Gliding and Correction Modules (UMPK) to conduct long-range strikes while remaining outside the effective range of Ukrainian air defense systems. Recent reports indicate that these munitions are capable of gliding up to 95 kilometers.

Previously, Western media reported that Ukraine is deploying the Lima electronic warfare system, which can disrupt satellite navigation signals used by Russian bombs equipped with UMPK kits.
