The Russian government has banned exports of diesel fuel and jet fuel amid shortages following Ukrainian attacks.
This was reported by ASTRA.
The restrictions were announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In addition, Russia will begin importing petroleum products in July to stabilize the domestic market.
Earlier, on June 17, it became known that Russia planned to import gasoline by sea in an attempt to overcome fuel shortages that emerged after large-scale drone attacks on oil refining infrastructure and fuel tankers.
Gasoline will be supplied from Asia, but details on purchase volumes and suppliers have not been disclosed.
It was also reported that Moscow plans to export Japanese jet fuel through intermediaries.
During the meeting, Novak also said that the Russian government had postponed several planned oil refinery maintenance operations and increased available refining capacity.
In addition, major oil companies began directing fuel primarily to regions where independent gas stations are prevalent.
Putin, in turn, said that fuel problems were “temporary” and that the Russian energy system allegedly had a “large margin of safety.”
It was recently reported that Russia’s largest oil refinery had suspended operations. The attack caused a fire and damaged the SDU-10 crude oil distillation unit, which accounts for about 38% of the plant’s refining capacity of 24,580 metric tons per day.
The agency’s sources also reported the shutdown of another crude oil distillation unit, SDU-11. It accounts for 37% of the plant’s capacity and can process 24,000 tons of oil per day.
