A delegation from Raytheon, manufacturer of missiles for the Patriot air defense missile systems, arrived for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of state announced this on his social media accounts.
Raytheon Vice President Joseph DeAntona arrived in Ukraine along with other company representatives.
Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Raytheon for its willingness to take the partnership with Ukraine to a new level by launching joint production of missiles for the Patriot systems.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of other defense equipment. As a reminder, in early May it was reported that Ukraine was interested in low-cost missiles from Raytheon.
“Our teams — at the government level and from the private sector — will stay in touch to finalize all the details. I thank the United States for its support of Ukraine,” Zelensky concluded.
Earlier, on July 8, it was reported that U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at a possible transfer of a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense system during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
Later, it was revealed that Poland would cooperate with Ukraine in the production and maintenance of PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems.
The Polish Minister of Defense noted that the country had signed an agreement with the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden to establish a European maintenance center for PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot air defense systems.
According to him, Poland is part of a group of four NATO countries, along with Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands, that, at the Alliance’s summit in Ankara, were granted the status of countries eligible to receive technology related to the production and maintenance of missiles for Patriot systems.
It is currently unknown exactly when and under what conditions joint production of missiles for the Patriot air defense system will be launched in Ukraine.
