Ukraine expects to receive new, promising, and more affordable missiles for countering drones from the American corporation RTX, the manufacturer of Patriot missiles.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Pavlo Palisa held talks with a delegation from the defense corporation RTX on this issue.

“We specifically discussed new solutions for countering drones and promising, more affordable missiles for engaging UAVs. Work is ongoing,” Pavlo Palisa said.

During the meeting, they also discussed issues that are currently critical for Ukraine: accelerating the delivery of missiles for the Patriot system, repairing damaged systems, and the possibility of maintaining some components in Ukraine.

An agreement regarding the supply of PAC-2 GEM-T missiles was recently signed. Some of them are planned to be manufactured at a new facility in Germany.

Details regarding the promising low-cost missiles were not disclosed during the meeting, but it is known that RTX is developing several affordable systems to combat drones.

The corporation offers its customers Coyote anti-drone systems, which it positions as “low-cost missiles.”

The system is launched from a rail-mounted launcher and is equipped with a rocket booster and a turbine engine.

Coyote operates in conjunction with a radio frequency sensor, enabling the detection and destruction of drones. The system can carry both kinetic and non-kinetic payloads and can be launched from mobile and stationary platforms in various environments—on land, in the air, and at sea.

The company is also working on the NGSRI anti-aircraft missile system, which is intended to replace the FIM-92 Stinger.

The NGSRI is equipped with an advanced sight featuring a powerful zoom and the ability to detect air targets at long range.

The missile will have greater range and speed compared to the Stinger, allowing for a more effective response to new types of threats.
